Rebecca picks three of her own

favourite lifestyle portraits

early evening when the sun was
low in the sky with golden tones.

LEANNE’S COMMENT

We moved to the bedroom

near a big window for this shot

• as the sun light was coming in directly
  from this side of the large house, we
  had the blind down and angled the slats
  so the light wasn’t as strong. Rebecca explained that this
  was where a reflector came in handy, as it meant we
  could position Chantelle with the window behind and
  bounce the light back onto her with a reflector. Shooting
  the other direction would’ve meant the background
  wouldn’t have been as interesting.

Collapsible reflector

“I ALWAYS carry a reflector, they’re

essential for bouncing light back on

to subjects to fill in shadows, for a

soft light. When using window light

for our lifestyle portraits indoors a

reflector was ideal when we wanted

a more even finish on both sides of

our model’s face and body.”

SHOOT IN THE RAW

BOTH pro photographer, Rebecca, and Apprentice, Leanne, shoot in Raw on

their Canon. “I always shoot in Raw as it creates the best image quality and

gives you the most control when it comes to processing, if I need to tweak the

exposure or white balance, or reduce highlights and boost shadows in

Photoshop or Lightroom without any loss in quality,” Rebecca says.
