INSPIRATIONS

(^02) COLOUR SPLASH BY JACQUI SCOTT
(FOTOPHANTASIA)
Combining action with food photography
isn’t an easy job, but that’s what Jacqui’s
managed to do with her vibrant image of
three peppers being dropped into a tank
of water. She made sure that all three were
dropped at the same in a line so they can
all be seen and sit level with each other.
Lens Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II
Exposure 1/200 sec, f/7.1, ISO200
(^03) TOMATO SOUP BY NADIA
Nadia’s photo of tomato soup in a red pot
just goes to show that sometimes the
simplest compositions work best. She’s
chosen to go minimal and it’s paid off – the
background is clean and totally black, so
there aren’t any distractions and the eye is
drawn towards the red pot and lid with the
vibrant green basil leaf.
Lens Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM
Exposure 1/4 sec, f/14, ISO200
(^04) WRONG BASKET BY PETE BAKER
This is a simple setup but, if you’ll excuse
the play on words, it’s berry effective!
Pete tells us, “I got the idea in a farm
shop where a raspberry had fallen into
a blackberry basket. I replicated the
composition back home and spent a lot of
time perfecting the lighting”. The time Pete
took was worth it, as the catchlights on the
berry’s give the image depth and texture.
