Enjoy the wonders of winter as we show you the Canon
equipment and photo techniques you need to capture

fantastic shots of birds and animals

he days are shorter, the nights
have drawn in, we’re entering the
magical season of winter. This is
the time when the great outdoors
is transformed – tree are barren, water
has frozen and (most of) the landscape
is covered in a blanket of soft snow.
It’s no surprise that some animals
decide to sit out this harsh time of year
altogether by going into hibernation, but
many species tough it out. And for some
species of migratory birds, this is the
only time of year you’ll be able to
photograph them. Capturing pictures of

animals like birds, squirrels, deer and
red foxes can give you delightful photo
opportunities in a unique environment.
Wildlife is arguably the toughest
photographic genre, requiring patience,
an intimate understanding of your
camera’s settings, and a good dose of
luck too! So it’s made even more difficult
with the year’s trickiest season, but fear
not! This month we’re going to reveal the
Canon kit you need and photo
techniques you can follow to get
amazing wildlife pictures in your own
garden or the local deer park.
