back^ to^ a^ great^ location^ time^ after^ time^ until^ yo
u get the^ perfect^
moment.^ We’re^ thrilled^ that^ it^ all^ came^ together^ fo
r him on^ his^ latest^
excursion^ to^ North^ Wales.
If^ we^ were^ being^ slightly^ picky^ we’d^ have^ liked
to have^ seen^ some^
stronger^ foreground^ interest^ to^ give^ the^ shots^ m
ore depth^ and^ give^
them^ a^3 D^ quality.^ Small^ niggle^ aside^ he’s^ co
me back^ with^ images^ full^
of warm^ rich^ tones^ in^ a^ landscape^ that^ more^ o
ften than^ not^ is^ less^
than forgiving,^ and^ that^ is^ no^ easy^ feat.^ Great^ jo

It gave me time to assess the
weather each morning before
deciding where to go for
sunrise. This was more often
in hope than the expectation
of getting quality images, but
it paid off several times.
Especially in regards to where
the more sheltered lakes were
likely to be.
Almost all of my images are
captured using Lee neutral
density (ND), ND graduated,
RUSRODUL]LQJÀOWHUVRIWHQLQ
combination with each other.
This helps me reduce the
amount of work in Lightroom
and Photoshop, by getting the
exposures as close as possible
WRZKDW,ZDQWDVDÀQDOLPDJH
in camera. I shoot in the Raw
and only do minimal tweaks,
such as contrast adjustments
and spot healing, to try and
keep the landscape as
natural as possible.
I wanted to capture atmospheric
landscapes with the emphasis of my work
being on the quality of light
