(Dana P.) #1
IAN ZIERING
STAR OF BH90210 AND ZOMBIE TIDAL WAVE

H

e’s crushed the boardroom
on The Celebrity Apprentice
and slayed great whites
in Sharknado, but Ian
Ziering is just getting started. This
month he’ll take on the living dead in
Zombie Tidal Wave and reunite with
his Beverly Hills, 90210 costars on
BH90210. OK! chats with the actor.

Tell us about Zombie Tidal Wave!
We kind of created our own genre
with the Sharknado movies. They’re
fun films where everyone is in on
the joke except the people who
are in the movie. In that same vein,
I came up with a story where the
antagonists are zombies — but my
zombies aren’t your typical zombies.
These guys move pretty quick. So it’s
a little different from what we’ve seen
before. The way that we’re able to kill
them is pretty new as well.

What can fans expect from
BH90210?
You’re going to see us as ourselves.
It’s Ian, Brian Austin Green, Jason
Priestley, Tori Spelling, Jennie
Garth, Shannen Doherty and
Gabrielle Carteris coming together
on a fan panel where Tori convinces
everyone to try to get the show back
on the air. We set out to pitch the
show to different networks, and of
course it lands at Fox, where it was
originally in 1990. It’s all about us
getting the show back on the air and
dealing with the struggles in our lives
while we do that.

What was your favorite
Beverly Hills, 90210
episode?
Probably “Sentenced
to Life,” when I got to
work with [comedian]
Milton Berle. I cowrote it.
It’s the only episode that
garnered 90210 an Emmy
nomination, for Milton.

What was
it like
reuniting
with your
former
costars?
It was
great
to work
together
again. We’ve
maintained
friendships,
so that’s been
great, but when
we all walked
into the Peach Pit
together, it was
really a trip. I just
felt very lucky. I
had a sense of

appreciation for what we’d
accomplished. The fact
that we’d done something
so impactful that we were
revisiting it again after
19 years, it was amazing.

It must’ve been very
bittersweet without Luke
Perry — how will the show
honor him?
That question
will be
answered
when you see
BH90210.
He wasn’t
signed on
to do it, but
I’m sure he
would’ve
come
around or
made an
appearance
at some point.
He was happily
involved with
Riverdale. We’re still
very shaken
[by his death
due to a stroke
in March]. It’s
still very fresh in
our minds. It’s a
tremendous loss
for all of us and
we’re still trying
to reconcile how
to grieve.

Robin Williams brought joy to millions with his warmth and
humor. But behind the scenes, the comic actor battled private
demons for decades. This compelling one-hour special
explores his life — including a devastating diagnosis of
Parkinson’s disease just months before his 2014 suicide — in
an effort to uncover what truly pushed him over the edge.
