Cardmaking Stamping & Papercraft – August 01, 2019

9 Plastic diffuser plates
are relatively new to
the market and let
you partially emboss
a panel. They’re
available from
brands such as Tim
Holtz and Sizzix.

10 When die-cutting
and embossing,
always cut fi rst
and emboss
second. This stops
the embossing
from fl attening out
on a second run
through the
machine.

11 Once a piece of
cardstock is
embossed, the
fi bres become
more delicate and
prone to tearing
when put in a
paper trimmer, so
cut them to size
beforehand.

12 Keep small pieces
of card in place
inside the folder
with repositionable
or washi tape, so
you get the exact
portion of the
design you’re after.

13 Give an
embossed pattern
greater depth by
applying pigment
ink to one side
before running it
through the
machine. The
effect will vary,
depending on the
folder and which
side you ink.

14 Remove stubborn
ink residue using
StazOn cleaner
then rinse the
folder in water
and put it aside
to dry.

15 Remove paint by
soaking folders in
warm water and
rubbing them with
a soft toothbrush.

16 For easy
reference,
emboss a tabbed
index card with
each folder and
store them
together in a box!
