FLEET OPERATIONS | MILE

Last mile and home deliveries are
one of the most sought out sectors
in the UAE, where there is still a great
deal of scope for automation. There
is a huge technological gap when it
comes to last mile deliveries for busi-
nesses of all sizes, according to Shawar Javed,
CEO and co-founder, Mile. “Consumers often
miss out on scheduled deliveries, or face delays
in receiving their orders while businesses have
limited to no control over their field force,” she
explains. “Typical modes of phone communica-
tion and paper based clipboard schedules are
simply antiquated.”
While field force in the GCC faces genuine opera-
tional challenges ranging from incorrect delivery ad-
dresses, or ability to notify customers or the office
of field conditions and so much more, it was within
this disconnect between businesses, field sales staff,
merchandisers, drivers and the consumer where Mile
was conceived. Mile provides an omni-channel unified
platform connecting businesses with field force, the
field force with end-consumers and the consumers
with both in real-time.
“Mile’s B2B2C platform embeds the power of real
time field force operations in the hands of relevant
users,” says Javed. “We’re empowering sales staff to
register new customers, request credit lines, cap-
ture exact customer locations and preferred delivery
schedules while on the move.” This makes it easier
to perform tasks like checking customer history and

Mile native Android & iOS Driver Apps help Field
Sales Staff, Merchandisers and Drivers in their daily
schedules with fully optimized routes ensuring field
force efficiencies. Native Android & iOS Customer
facing white labeled apps provide ordering, tracking
and notification features as a standard.
“Businesses operating larger fleets face larger chal-
lenges, especially when the field operations go beyond
the delivery of goods,” says Javed. “There are a lot of
businesses that involve cash collection, returns and
van sales. This complicates the logistics operations
even further.”
