1 / Honey Stinger
Honey Waffle $
per box These have
become a staple
on my longer rides.
They’re thin enough
for me to stow away
one or two in my
pack , and they hold
up pretty well. Most
importantly, they’re
delicious and I never
get tired of eating
them.

2 / Bontrager Rhythm
Mountain Short $
I’m picky about two
things when it comes
to mountain bike
shor ts: the way they
adjust in the waist,
and how baggy they
are in the legs. These
shor ts ace both tests.
The built-in belt is
super comfor table
and effective. And
while the legs are
on the longer side,
they’re also really
fitted, so it doesn’t
feel like I’m wearing
men’s shor ts.

3 / Pearl Izumi
X-Alp Flow Shoes
$
I run flat pedals on my
mountain bike, and
while I love flat pedal
shoes, they always
seem a bit clunky.
These are surpris-
ingly lightweight, and I

They’ve got plenty
of grip, and the fit is
great.

4 / Ortlieb Packman
Pro 2 Backpack $
This was my year-

bag for years when
I lived in Philly. I’ve
used it in the worst
downpours, and it’s
reliably waterproof.
Even though it’s look-
ing pretty beat-up
