Campervan Crisis - Averted

Hi David,
I bought this restored 1976 Californian camper in late March and
drove it from its previous owner in Wolverhampton to a stop-over
in Coventry when it unexpectedly broke down at a busy roundabout
just outside the city centre. All electric power had suddenly gone, the
engine was dead and, of course, there were no lights. As it was getting
dark with no tools on board, we called Green Flag but after waiting an
hour in the cold, a car pulled in behind us and a couple got out to see
if they could help. The guy’s face looked familiar but I didn’t recognise
him... He proceeded to look around the engine bay and diagnosed
the problem as being a blown fuse. I then realised it was none other
than Nigel Isted of ‘Campervan Crisis’ fame! A TV program that I had
watched s just a couple of weeks before.
He found the fuse in question and suggested that I use another from
the box just to get me going. Success! The engine fired up and I could
drive the last couple of miles to my destination with my headlights on.
We are so grateful for Nigel’s help that night in Coventry, and
we wanted to write this, to recognise his kindness and campervan
camaraderie.
Many, many thanks Nigel.

Slovenian Split

Hi David.
We were travelling around Scotland in rented T6 California and I found
your magazine at Edinburgh airport. I thought you might be able to use
my great story.
Two years ago, we found the wreck of a 1961 Panel-van on the dry
bed of the Rižana river in Slovenia. It was completely ruined, no engine,
no papers, no wheels, no owner. But what a great story. And there’s a
happy ending. We re-built the bus and fitted beer taps to the side!
Our crowdfunding campaign raised ¤30,0000. We took 18 months to
rebuild the bus and filmed everything. Some of the videos went viral
in Slovenia, mainly because we featured local celebrities, repairing our
legend in the garage.
Interestingly the bus was such a big star in Slovenia, that some UK
breweries invested money in it. And when the bus was back on the road
last summer, we took it to visit those breweries. 4.300 kilometers, 9
days and 7 countries. Quite an adventure for a 60 years old bus, which
was almost dead two years ago.
There’s much more at facebook.com/ beerbulli & http://www.beebulli.si
Kind regards from our last minutes in Edinburgh, we are returning
home. This time, by plane!
Cheers,
Matej Špehar
