a Volkswagen as at VanQuest, we
spend all day around T5’s and T6’s
converting them into campers which
we then hire out for a living. The
new front wheel drive T5’s & T6’s
are good, but they’re all electronics
and clever sensors. I was after
something totally old school with
very little to go wrong. Something
that I’d stand a chance of repairing
armed only with a big hammer if it
failed out in the African bush. I’d
been looking for a syncro for a while
when this one turned up, but as soon
as I got it home, I realised that it was
far too original to convert. Instead,
I took it to Stanford Hall, where I
entered it in the concours d’elegance
last year, and it won best in class!
