S
o impressed was I with my
debut visit to the Avoncroft
Aircooled VW Show last
year, that I went back again
to sample its delights in 2019. Once
again it didn’t fail to deliver.

If you don’t rely on air - then you ain’t getting past the door staff.
So what do I like about the show?
1, It’s based in the Midlands, so
it’s pretty local to me, just a few
junctions up the M5.
2, I love the unusual setting; the
Avoncroft Museum of Historic
Buildings has all sorts of things
that you just wont see at a rival VW
show, where you might just see grass
and trees. There are interesting
buildings around every corner,
displays of phone boxes through the
ages, a model train layout you can
ride on, and several playgrounds for
the kids to explore. And that’s just
for starters. There are also plenty
of places to sit down and take the
weight off your feet - sadly lacking
at many shows - and of course a
windmill!
3, It had decent weather; for the
second year in a row I was able to
dress in a T shirt - although long
trousers rather than shorts this year
as it was slightly cooler - turned out
shorts would have been fine for 2019
too.
4, Of course there was another
great selection of air cooled VWs
1: Best Patina
2: Another NLA
choice.
3: The blue bus on
the far right won
Best T3
4: Historic toilet
5: NLA choice
6: NLA choice
details
7: Best Bay
There’s something
