scattered around the buildings;
mainly in front of the windmill on
the main lawn, but you could also
find them parked up in the shade in
other places too.
What don’t I like about the show?
Nothing really!
This year the show put on a special
display to celebrate Herbie’s 50th -
it was launched by Disney back in
- The team from the Flat 4 VW
Club - who run the whole show, had
managed to assemble no less than
a dozen Herbies to celebrate; all in
slightly different specs, different
lights, sunroofs, bumpers etc - will
the real Herbie please stand up!
Two things all the Herbie replicas
could agree on was they were mainly
the same white-ish and all had the
number 53 on them.
For the kids there was face
painting and balloon modelling and
naturally a choice of food and drink
from a selection of traders - several
from the back of VWs - and one bar
8: Another historic
toilet!
9: Best Early Beetle
10: Prizes to be won
11: Best paint
12: n the middle -
Best SPlit
13: Phone box
collection
14: Will the real
Herbie please stand
up
even won the award for Best T25
even if it was water-cooled! It used
to be a German army catering van
until it came to the UK to be turned
into a bar.
According to the organisers there
were 200 cool air-cooled vehicles
which turned up for the show - the
show itself supported by NLA who
also handed out goodie bags to go
along with the Beetle treasure hunt
- a Beetle toy was hidden in each
building.
The team plan to be doing it all
again next May - so track them down
on Facebook or the internet and
stick the date in your diary when it’s
confirmed - see you there!
