busloads of tourists, hikers, bikers, and families. We could
hardly find a free space to park. It’s a hotspot, but it is
a must-see. After visiting the castle gardens we became
tired of the crowds and pitched up in the comfort of the
Slenyje camping park, nestled on the Galve lakeshore.
It was a good decision, we followed the regatta on the
lake and watched the sun going down. We also indulged
in some sunbathing with cool cocktails. This was a very
varied camping holiday.
The following day we travelled towards Vilnius and
followed a fellow traveler’s recommendation, Vilnius City
Camping, just below the TV tower. Another very good
choice, with nearby public transport and the facilities
were just what we needed. Although it was packed with
mobile-homes, we pitched up in the tent area which had
