1968 CUSTOM DELUXE MICROBUS.only minimally since I’ve had it. The
engine was built by VW Speedshop
and the bottom end balanced by
Bears Motorsport. It has a capacity
of 2054cc and features a new AS41
case, a 74 mm CB Performance
stroker crank, a Web cam, 94 mm
Mahle barrels and pistons, CNC
ported, CB performance 044 Super
Mag heads with 40 mm intake and
38.5 mm exhaust valves operated
by CB rockers, Smith Brothers
push rods in Jaycee tubes. It is full
flow with an external oil cooler
and filter, a 30 mm oil pump and
a 009 distributor with electronic
ignition. It breathes in through twin
40 IDF carburettors and out via a
Vintage Speed exhaust. Drive is via
a stage 1 Kennedy clutch. I have
taken it to Rawspeed in Plymouth
for a check and a run on the rollers
where it produced an impressive
120 bhp. The running gear was all
updated when the bus was first put
on the road over here, with newThe orange
reflectors by the B
pillar give away its
American roots.
The custom
interior was built
by VWorks
