acquired the bus and after a while
messing with a 1641/single carb,
I met Tim TJ Radford. He lent
me some space in his workshop,
organised the case machining
and suggested some parts, shops
and people. With his guidance,
I built a gorgeous 1914 cc engine
running an 8:1 compression ratio,
based on an AS41 case which has
been vapour blasted, lacquered,
line bored, thrust cut, drilled
& tapped and using a Schadek
26mm oil pump, plugged for full
flow. There’s a Bernie Bergmann
counterweighted & forged 69 mm
crank, which has been 8 dowelled,
there’s VW 311 forged rods, refurbed
and balanced/matched and the
whole of the rotating assembly has
Safari’s, roofrack
and surfboards
