With thanks to...
been helping me with my projects
for the last 20 odd years. Originally
pearl white all over, we kept the
white but added candy apple red
for the roof & sides with a teaspoon
of red flake in the lacquer for those
sunny days.
“I’ve kept the cab as original
looking as possible although there’s
a few hidden features. There are
5 seats in the back, but the one in
the corner is for my dog. There’s
a 240/12v fridge freezer, a 240v
inverter, a diesel heater, USB
sockets, LED lighting, a gas hob & a
sink. Finally, the table provides the
base for a bed.
“I have always enjoyed rebuilding
cars, but I never really thought
about VW’s before I owned this.
The best thing about it is the smiles.
Folk can be 3 years old or 103 years
old, and as they see it a huge smile
covers their face. There’s very little
in life that does that anymore. The
VW community itself is great, I have
had help from all across the world.
People may not know who you are,
but they understand what you are
trying to achieve and are more than
willing to help you get there”.
If the surfboards
were colour
matched, you’d
know they were just
for show.
It looks like that
rear bumper was
once home to an
old Monza four
barrel exhaust
A nice selection
of pop outs for
those sunnt days
I love the striped
‘awning’ between
the cargo doors.
Amina for putting up with me,
Phil Oatley who helped from start to finish
and taught me a lot of new skills
Jason Thomas for the panel work and
sanding down
Kris Butcher for all his knowledge and help
TJ Radford who took time to help me build
the engine, he could have just said I’m too
busy and built it for me.
And Motortrim in Kingswood Bristol for the
interior trim.
