inherMyrtlefordstorecalledTheVintageGoat.Itwas
a uniqueenterprisethatexpressedherloveofvintageand
classicdesign.Andgoats.Sixyearson,althoughmuchhas
changed,a fewthingshavestayedthesame,includingher
backyardcollectionofpetgoats.Butthatstoreclosedin
2016 whenDanni’struelove—fashion—tookwingsandshe
andhersisterNicMacIsaactookovera f ledglingwomen’s
labelcalledEva’sSunday.Today,thebrandisa dynamic
collaborationbetweenDanni,whomovedtoMyrtleford
withherhusbandDaveandtheirtwosonsa decadeago,
andMelbourne-basedNic,whohasa businessbackground
—and,yes,witha littledesignandfashionthrownin.
“Iwasa millinerfora while,andI importedpashmina
shawls,”saysNic,whoasCEO,doesthebusinessmanagement
andmarketingforEva’sSunday.“Ialsohada businesscalled
MagnoliaSquare,supportingcreativetalentandgiving
a platformtopeopletoshowcasetheircreativity.”
ThesisterspooledtheirtalentswhenNicboughtoutEva’s
Sunday—startedbyanotherdesigner—thatDannihadalso
beendesigningforandsellingatherformerstore.Anold
hardwareoutletinMyrtlefordisnowDanni’sindustrial-style
designstudio.“It’sgreattohavea beautifulbigspacelike
thisinMyrtleford,”saysDanni,whohastransformedwhat
wasa f luorescentgreeninteriorintoa moodyartisticcanvas
forhercreativity.NicaddsthatDanninotonlyiscreative
directorforthelabel,buttheaestheticcoordinator,stylist,
collectionphotographer,editorandvideographer.“She’sthe
sortofwomanwhoputsupwallsandtakesthemdown,puts
uplighting,andgetsuptherewitha drillandhammer.She
notonlydesignsthecollections,sheshootsthemtoo.”
Eva’sSundaycollectionsareprimarilylinenandnatural
fibres,classicdesignsthatworktogetheranddon’tdate,says
Nic.“We’reveryanti-fastfashionandtheoriginalconcept
waslinen:that’swhatattractedDan’seyeinthefirstplace.
Webelievefashionisnotsomethingyouneedtoupdateevery
fewweeks;forusit’sclassic,timelesspiecesthatstayinyour
wardrobe,incolourpalettesthatworktogether.”
ForDanni,whoworksalongsidea samplehandwith
a sewingmachineinthestudio,there’sa cleannessthat
runsthroughherdesigns,mixedinwithherowninspiration.
“IloveJapaneseaesthetics,butI havemyowncreative
process,andI’mnotinspiredbyanyoneperson,”shesays.
Eva’sSundaybeganasanonlinestore;todaytheyalsohave
fourretailstores;oneinBeechworth,twoinMelbourneand
a newoneinAlbury,NSW,aswellastheMyrtlefordstudio.
Whenitcomestoworkingtogether,thesistersfireoff
eachother.“WeliveandbreatheEva’sSunday,”saysNic.
“EverydayI’mblownawaybyDan’sability.I loveworking
alongsideherasshehasmoreenergythananyoneI know.”
“NicandI havealwaysdabbledinlittlethingsandhelped
eachotheroutattimes.It’sreallynicetobeworkingwith
hernow,”Danniresponds.
