changecomingfromLondon,butgoingout
theremadea realdifferenceintermsof
steppingoutofcitylifeandreturningtothe
countryandseeingfamily,whichisreally
important.I lovedtheopenspaceand
freedom;inLondonyouseepeopleeveryday
butwhenI’minthepaddock,it’sjustmeand
thedog.Thatsenseandfreedommadea big
differenceina littleboy’slife,I mustsay.
I wenttoboardingschooluntilI was16,
whichI loved.It wasthebest years of my life
andI madegreatfriends.
ThebiggestthingsthatSamtriestoget
acrossaretheprocessoflearningandthe
day-to-dayoflifeona farmandinthebush.
Workingonthefarmteachesyoua lotabout
independence as there are situations when
youareonyourownandhavetothinkfor
yourself,butit alsoteachesyouthevalueof
patience.Also,therespectyouneedtohave
foryourfamilyandcommunityinsucha
smallandtight-knitarea.Everyoneisonthe
sameteamandyouhavetogiveback.
I talktoSampatwicea weekandeven
whenI wasinLondon,I wouldspeaktohim
everyweek.It’sindescribablewhathemeans
tome.Sometimeswehaveourdifferences,
buthehasbeena massivepartofmylifein
termsoflearningandalsothefriendshipwe
have.It’squitespecial;it’samazinghowjust
thatlittleconversationcanmakesucha
difference.AsI’vegrownolderwe’remore
inclinedtotalkaboutthefamilybusinessand
farmingandwhatwe’dliketodooutside
offarming.He’sa verybigcommunityman
andlikestoseepeopledowellratherthan
himself.I havea bigpassionforcarrying
thingsonthathe’sstartedandI’dlovetobe
abletousemydegreetobringpublicityback
tothebushcommunity.Thatwould be my
dream job, to be honest. >
