Performance

Easy to prepare: just pop one of

the two ‘teabags’ in the globe into

1½ litres of tepid water in a bucket,

squidge it around until the water

turns milky, then mix 500ml of the

solution with 4½ litres of water in a

can. Water the solution across the

moist soil or onto moist compost in

pots. No indication of how much

product per pot to use, but a good

slosh of solution to thoroughly wet

the compost seemed reasonable.

Value

Widely available from garden

centres, no need to refrigerate,

easy and convenient to use on

crops and ornamentals, although

it is a little more expensive than

other treatments.

Performance

To use, just unpack the board and lay it

face down on moist soil or compost, and

keep it moist. Adult vine weevils hide

under the board and are infected by the

nematodes. It looks a bit odd on a pot,

but should offer good protection. Safe

to use around children and pets.

Value

Nice to keep consistent pressure on vine

weevils through the summer. Only kills

adults, and it’s an expensive option for

pots, but for prized specimens a lot of

gardeners will think it’s worth it.
