BEYOND LINE:

THE ART OF

KOREAN WRITING

LOS ANGELES COUNTY MUSEUM
OF ART • LOS ANGELES, CALIF.
LACMA.ORG • THROUGH
SEPTEMBER 29

“Beyond Line: The Art of Korean
Writing” focuses on the art of callig-
raphy—considered one of the highest
art forms in Korea and thought to be
a reflection of one’s qualities as a
human being. It’s the first show to
focus on the history of Korean writ-
ing and calligraphy in the United
States and includes works in both
Chinese ideographic characters, called
hanja, as well as hangeul, the unique
Korean phonetic script.
