48 TIMBER HOME LIVING October 2019

OPPOSITE: Bedrooms on the home’s main
level feature Shaw solid hardwood flooring,
wide custom-crafted interior trim and facings
and Shaker-style doors supplied by Honest
Abe Log Homes. The elegant solid crystal
oval reproduction doorknobs create a
streamlined look.

CLOCKWISE FROM ABOVE: The timber-
framed “man cave” above the garage pro-
vides Greg with 937 square feet of room for
watching sports or engaging in his hobbies.
A custom gun case is suspended between
two stone columns. Q In an otherwise
conventionally-built house, Greg and Sandra
incorporated a grand hall with a heavy-timber
roof system that extends from the front en-
trance to the main level’s outdoor living room.
Q On the patio, a hot tub is decked with
manmade stone. Q The exterior rock work,
which contributes to the dramatic look of the
rear elevation, is natural stone from Centurion
Stone in Nashville. Earth elements, like wood
and stone, along with subdued paint colors,
enable the home to blend into the forests
surrounding the Big South Fork.
