PeterVos DaleMorris George Robey Duncan Butchart

Duncan Butchart has been
watching, sketching, photographing,
illustrating and writing about birds
and other aspects of nature for
most of his life. He has authored
and illustrated nature books, and
numerous bespoke publications, as
well as many magazine articles. His
work has taken him to wild places
in Costa Rica, Peru, Brazil, Thailand,
Borneo, Australia and India, as well
as 11 African countries. Duncan
first visited Botswana’s Okavango
Delta as a schoolboy in 1976, and his
all-in-one guide book Wildlife of the
Okavango has been in print for more
than 20 years. Read about his search
for Pel’s Fishing Owl and other
specials of the Okavango Swamps
in Delta Dawn on page 74.

Theonly thing George Robey
freelance photojournalist for local
andinternational magazines
enjoys more than the outdoors,
is writing about it. The American
expat shutterbug remains in awe
ofAfrica’s wide-open spaces,
thediversity of outdoor activities
(fishing in particular), and the
wonderful, passionate people
wholive the country lifestyle.
OnGeorge’s latest assignment
forCOUNTRY LIFE, he treks the
veldwith a few of Africa’s greatest
target archers, and his feature
Take a Bow (page 66) details
thepassion, dedication and hard
work required for South Africa’s
golden girl of archery to become
a world champ.
