The track runs were airbrushed with Tamiya’s XF69 NATO Black Dirt coloured pastel chalk powder mixed with mineral spirit was
literally applied to the tracks.


After brushing off some of the pastel dust, the tracks were dry brushed
with a mixture of silver enamel and raw umber is paint to highlight
points of wear.

The wooden part of the unditching beam was given a wood grain
appearance using diluted oil paints.


To help secure the fascene to the model, brass wire was inserted
into the top of the railings and mated to corresponding holes in the
base of the bundle.

The tank crew corporal had a lanyard for his
pistol added using thin lead wire

The figures were finished using Vallejo’s line
of acrylic paints

on the mud in places allowing it to
look soaked-in.
The muffler and exhaust
had small chips of broken and
deteriorated paint added using a
pointed brush with dark grey/brown
Vallejo acrylic paint. Over that, a
small amount of brown and orange
pastel dust was rubbed in small
areas to give an impression of the
effect of heat on these parts.

FINAL ASSEMBLY AND DETAILS
After placing the track runs onto
the model, the next two items to
add were the in-ditching beam and
the fascene.
The kit supplies a heavy link
chain for the beam, and some
etched metal brackets to fasten it
to the upper rails that it slid over
when in use. One extra link (than
indicated in the instructions) was

The fascene was painted
a greyish brown and given
a variation in colour using
brown pastel powders.

Small amounts of Tamiya
X22 Gloss were painted onto
the mud clumps to give a slit
lay soaked-in effect.
