For damaging the paint layer on the wheels, where I wanted to
recreate not only the paint chips but also various scratches, I used a
scratch brush pen with vinyl bristles from Green Stuff World.
The effect was toned down with a very fine filter, applied with heavily
diluted white paint.
Some of the details had to be emphasized again after the application of the winter camo. This time I used AK-Interactive AK677 ‘Neutral Grey
Wash’.
The final retouches were made with heavily diluted white acrylic paint that had been carefully applied
with a brush.
Afterwards, I base-coated the tracks and tow cable with a mixture of Tamiya’s XF-63 ‘German Grey’ and
XF-64 ‘Red Brown’.
At this stage, the tow cable required more attention. To begin,
I randomly applied tiny quantities of Lifecolor’s liquid pigment
LPW07 ‘Eroding Dark Rust’.
Next, I rubbed the surfaces with an 8B pencil, in order to add some
metal sheen.
Finally, I applied tiny quantities of white paint here and there, using the
tapping technique. This way I replicated the remnants of the winter camo.
