(C. Jardin) #1
Oh, also, we figured out your destiny
By RACHEL TORGERSON
You, person who’s interested in yourself and your future, might want to learn about your north and south nodes. They’re these little
astrological details (the symbol on your birth chart that looks kinda like a pair of headphones) that map out the entire trajectory of
your life and show you your major flaws. Pay attention to which sign and house your north node is in—it’s your key to success. Any-
time you act in agreement with it, you excel at whatever you’re doing. Sounds great...except most people are stubbornly hardwired to
follow their south node, which always lies directly opposite the north one and means (sorry) you’ll probably fuck up important things,
like relationships and career decisions. So: Find your north node and go hard on those qualities, because that’s how you’ll win.

6TH HOUSE

It rules the
things you
do every day
(even granular
stuff like
brushing your
teeth and
petting your
pup). This is
also where you
can see your
physical health
and habits.

7 TH HOUSE

Call up your
crew. Here,
you’ll find part-
nerships—who
you like and
how you relate
to others—your
BFF, your life
partner, your
frenemies, and
your straight-up
enemies.

8 TH HOUSE

Another one
with A Lot
going on: big-
ger money
stuff like inheri-
tances, taxes,
and debt. Fun!
Also, com-
pletely unre-
lated, orgasms.
And how you
feel about
death. Casual.

9 TH HOUSE

Welcome to
higher learn-
ing, ethics,
and vision.
Here’s where
your view of
the world is
shaped. For
this reason, it’s
also all about
international
travel.

11TH HOUSE

Your less emo
social con-
nections live
here alongside
humanitarian
concerns. Look
to the 11th for
revolution,
evolution, and
the organizing
it takes to get
there.

10TH HOUSE

NBD, just
your life call-
ing—your pur-
pose and your
career are
based here. It’s
also the high-
est point in the
chart, where
you’ll want
to be recog-
nized for your
achievements.

12 TH HOUSE

PSA: So much
of the stuff that
gets caught in
your blind spots
stems from this
house, which
governs mental
and spiritual
health and
your earliest
developmental
experiences.

astrologer studies all your major life events
and behavioral habits and tries to reverse-
engineer your birth chart. It can be pricey
(often around $200), but it’s way less than a
round-trip ticket to your birthplace and you
get to keep your vacation days. Sold.
I consulted rectification expert Leisa
Schaim, who talked me through the neces-
sary steps—she requires her clients to have a
ballpark idea of their birth time, so our chat

would be speculative. First: I drafted a list
of my life milestones and when exactly they
occurred. Then she asked me some super-
personal questions (e.g., “Did your family
struggle with money when you were growing
up?”) to see if she could zone in on my rising
sign based on how I deal with things.
She could: Once she rotated my
speculative chart to Sagittarius rising,
everything started clicking. She wondered if

communication and storytelling played a big
role in my life. (Hello, it me, Cosmo’s Snap -
chat editor, communicating this tale to you
right now.) She even quizzed me on if I ever
ran for student council. (Um, twice. Freaky!)
In the end, Schaim wasn’t able to nail
down my exact birth time, but her process
did let me try on new astrological identities
that may be a big part of the one I already
own. Total Sag move, no?
