Tips on how

to cope, from

veterans who

should know

ANXIETY has arguably never had
a higher profi le than it does today,
with a wealth of books, blogs and
apps available to help tackle what is
often termed a “modern epidemic”.
But as anyone who has endured
the terror of a full-blown panic attack
will tell you, these episodes can take
time to resolve and
should not be
ignored.
Soldier
asked a bunch
of veterans
from one of
Combat
Stress’s peer
support
groups what
helps them
keep panic at
bay, and this is
what they had
to say...

Panic & anxiety

I focus on
personal self-
care. This
includes taking
part in singing,
art, meditation,
walking my dog
and playing
American
football.

Like many others
I fi nd going for
long walks in the
countryside helps me
to manage my stress
levels. Combat Stress
peer support meetings
help me deal with my
anxiety too.
