readers. 75% of those surveyed were
female, 23% were male. Most common
age group was 55-64 (38%) followed by
45-54 (23%). 84% of those surveyed
identified as white. 31% reported working
at a company with more than 5,000
employees. In comparison, Modern
Healthcare Metrics estimates health
systems with more than 5,000 employ-
ees make up at least 35% of all systems.

Some 911 executives responded to Modern Healthcare’s survey examining gender
discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace. While few felt strongly that
women had lost out on opportunities due to their gender, there was pessimism over
whether their companies are making advancement of women a high priority.
