She’s calling out ‘Injustice’

NANCY Grace. Back on the
case. New show’s “Injustice” on
Oxygen. Not changed is former
prosecutor Nancy Grace. Smart.
Savvy. Still a know-it-all who
knows it all. Now, she says, she’s
righting wrongs. Which means
what?
“What I’m doing now is basi-
cally carrying through a thought-
provoking premise,” she told me.
“I’m dredging out untold truths,
checking botched investigations,
correcting wrongful accusations.
“My old show, which was on
for years, was by the seat of my
pants. Whatever story broke,
whichever headline, any crime

hitting the news, I jumped onto. Now
I’m out on the street 5:30 every morn-
ing searching for stories.
“Many ideas were pitched to me for a
new program. Now a series of spon-
sors are coming on so this one
could be around a long time. It’s
6 p.m. Saturdays but runs
through the week. On it, I’m
correcting what’s not gone
right. Like a case that just aired
about a little girl, 15, who’d been
in a foster home and then was
murdered.
“Checking out all the
leads I discovered some
truths went down a rab-
bit hole. As I uncov-
ered these situations,
it became my job to
correct them.”
Meanwhile, what
about Nancy’s own
life?
“I’m living 50/50 be-
tween Atlanta, where my
studio base is, and here.
The rest of the time, like
right now, I’m checking
out leads in California and
Florida.”

LUCAS Hnath, playwright behind “Hillary and
Clinton” and “A Doll’s House, Part 2” — both star-
ring Laurie Metcalf — is testing the new work
“Dana H.” It’s thrilling. Also harrowing. Also per-
sonal. Also true.
Dana was a chaplain in a psych ward. An ex-convict
patient held her captive — trapped, disoriented, ter-
rified — for five months. The story, told in Dana
Higginbotham’s own words, was reconstructed by
her son Lucas Hnath. She is played by Deirdre
O’Connell.
The 90-minute play, heading for Broadway, is a co-
production with off-B’way’s Vineyard Theatre.

True tale to hit stage

Nancy Grace: Former
prosecutor has a new
TV show called “Injustice.”

COMING is a musical about
Lee Harvey Oswald!!!?? A musi-
cal??! It’s his wife Marina’s two
versions of 20th century’s
most infamous crime.
Reeve Carney and Amy
Spanger headline. The
thing tries out Aug. 19 at
funky cabaret the Green
Room 42. Tickets start at
$22.50.
November 1963.
Dallas police head-
quarters. Presi-

dent Kennedy’s accused assassin
Oswald also meets his end. His
widow explores two versions. A
troubled youth and conspiracy
theory, plus the one about a
cold-blooded killer driven by the
need to be famous. Writer To ny
LePage, and composer/lyricist
John Sassanella: “We’re excited
to bring ‘Oswald’ to New York.
Can’t wait to watch New York
audiences pick a side.” Right.
And we can’t wait to hum along
with you.

Assassin getting his own musical

NETFLIX’S new series.
It’s “Happy Jail.” Starts the
14th. Goes inside the Philip-
pines’ Cebu Provincial De-
tention and Rehabilitation
Center prison. There danc-
ing and fun are part of in-
mates’ rehab. However, this
charmer now faces scrutiny.
Why??? Because an ex-con-
vict was hired to run it.
Ohhh, too bad nobody from
“SNL” was available... AND
as for those few things left
that seem normal, there’s
Mary J. Blige coming in
the sweet fluffy “Power
Book II: Ghost.” And Jenni-
fer Lawrence in “Mob
Girl,” which is wall-to-wall
crime.

A DISCUSSION. The con-
gressman fulminates: “We
must find out the truth
about Russia’s interference.”
The reporter: “Oh, please.
You can’t. Russia has loose-
leaf history books.”
Only in New York, kids,
