Jose Berrios throughout his career
has been magnificent at home with a
3.28 ERA and 23-12 record, which should
lend itself well to Tuesday’s showdown
with the Braves.
Atlanta is bringing Mike Foltynewicz
back up to the big leagues after he was
woeful at the start of the year. An All-
Star in 2018, Foltynewicz began the
season 2-5 with a 6.37 ERA in 11 starts.
He was giving up 2.4 home runs per
nine innings prior to being sent down to
the minor leagues and faces a Twins

team that is on pace for the most home
runs for a team in a season.
Berrios is issuing a career-best 1.9 walks
per nine innings and is 10-5 with a 2.80 ERA.
At Target Field, that ERA shrinks to 2.10,
and he is giving up 0.75 home runs per nine
innings.
The Twins entered this series winners
of eight of their last 10, and Berrios
should help the Twins continue to fill
up the win column.
THE PLAY: Twins, -144.

Cubs duo sidelined
The Cubs have placed
closer Craig Kimbrel on
the 10-day injured list with
right knee inflammation, and
All-Star catcher Willson
Contreras will miss the
next four weeks with a right
hamstring strain.
Kimbrel’s IL stint is
retroactive to Sunday, and
Kimbrel thinks he will be
ready when he is eligible to
return.
Contreras had an MRI
exam on Monday that
showed a Grade 2 strain.

Another Rays starter to IL
Yonny Chirinos has
become the third Bay
starting pitcher on the
injured list.
The right-hander was
placed on the 10-day IL
Monday with right middle
finger inflammation and is
expected to miss at least a
month.
AL Cy Young Award
winner Blake Snell has
been out since July 22 with
bone chips in his left elbow
that required surgery.
Tyler Glasnow started
the season 6-1 before being
sidelined May 10 due to a
right forearm strain.

Foltynewicz recalled
The Braves have recalled
right-hander Mike
Foltynewicz from Triple-A
Gwinnett to take a spot in the
starting rotation after Kevin
Gausman was claimed off
waivers by the Reds.
Foltynewicz was a 13-game
winner and an All-Star for
the Braves in 2018. He was
demoted to the minors on
June 22 after going 2-5 with
a 6.37 ERA in 11 starts.
Foltynewicz will start
Tuesday at Minnesota.

Bills Waddle tears quad
A person with direct
knowledge of the injury
confirmed to the Associated
Press that Bills offensive
tackle LaAdrian Waddle has
a torn right quadriceps and is
expected to miss the season.

Colts claim Foreman
The Colts have claimed
running back D’Onta
Foreman off waivers from
Houston.
The 6-foot-1, 235-pound
Foreman, Houston’s third-
round pick in 2016, logged
85 carries for 326 yards and
two scores and caught
eight passes for 111 yard
and one touchdown in two
seasons with Houston.

Oakland for Athletic Stitches
Geniuses at French’s are releasing a
mustard ice cream. Not to be outdone,
Oscar Mayer has created a hot dog-fla-
vored ice cream sandwich. Simultane-
ously bad marketing ideas sent stocks
crashing Monday. If sales sag, the compa-
nies will take a loss and send the putrid
ice creams to Baltimore to be used as rat
repellent.
Couple of veteran lefties throw at
Wrigley on Tuesday. Jon Lester will look
to bounce back after the rival Cardinals
tagged him for five runs over five innings
at St. Louis. Cards have been chipping
away at the first-place Cubs’ lead and

now both catcher Willson Contreras and
closer Craig Kimbrel are headed to the
IL. Oakland, in a dog fight with Tampa
Bay for a wild-card spot, go with Brett
Anderson — who held the Brewers to
three runs over seven innings last week.
Cubs are tough to beat at home, but we
will back the A’s for 20 units.
