Blooms

Create vibrant wall art full of stamped blooms!
By Clare Messenger

M

any of us love using floral stamps on our cards, tags or in our journals.
I also love seeing them incorporated into larger mixed media pieces to
decorate the home. Stamps are ever-growing in size. We can use them in
our larger art journals, but why not take them off the page and onto a piece of your very
own wall art?
The beauty of this project is that the background can be as simple or as complicated
as you want to make it. My background is relatively simple if you get the proportions
right!
I started my canvas by masking off the horizon and pencilling in the sweeping tide,
this allowed me to look and sometimes photograph to check if I have the desired
landscape. At this point I haven’t committed myself by using any paint and I can easily
change the ratio of land, sea and sky. Before using masking tape make sure your paint
is dry, you don’t want to lift off any paint!

Designer
tip...
Save those remnants of
leftover, textured wallpaper.
When painted and pressed
directly onto your art work it
leaves fabulous depth and
texture!
