Add texture in a myriad of ways to your art!
By Trish Latimer

I

love to create interest in my art work by adding texture. Both physical ‘touchy
feely’ texture in the form of embellishments with varying surface patterns, and
layered texture in my backgrounds. I’ve combined both aspects here in my tag. My
Gel print background has multiple, subtle textural layers created firstly with bespoke
printing shapes, then stamped and printed designs on top. My embellishments come in
the form of both found texture ( the cheesecloth, threads and plastic mesh) and more
Designer bespoke texture, this time in the form of a stamped clay button.
tip...
When printing onto a painty
Gel plate layer, be careful to
press straight down and lift directly
upwards. You don’t want to slide
the printing block (or whatever
you are using!) across the
paint and make smeary
mess.
