1 Roll out some air dry clay, roughly 5mm
in thickness.
2 Press down the texture printing plate
into the clay. Any rubber or polymer
stamp will work perfectly for this too!
3 Cut a circle (or any other shape)
using a cookie cutter. Don’t forget to
use the ‘waste’ clay to make more
embellishments, otherwise it will go
hard and be unuseable.
4 Using an embossing tool (or old biro)
create two holes in the circle. Leave
overnight to dry and harden.
5 You may notice I decided to go with a
different textured button at this point!
Paint the button in two shades, making
sure all the textured areas have paint
coverage.
6 Once the paint is dry, carefully highlight
the raised areas with a little silver wax.
Step-by-step... Creating Texture
7 To create the printing blocks, take a
sheet of Essdee foam and lightly draw
a pattern. I’ve kept to circles, but of
course you can make whatever kind of
pattern you wish!
8 Using an embossing tool, press into the
Essdee foam, following the lines of the
patterns.
9 Cut closely around the edges of the
designs, so you have several printing
‘blocks’.
