Bee Happy

I prepared the surface of the Etcetera Tag and the MDF pieces with a coat
of White Gesso. I applied Fossilized Amber and Hickory Smoke Distress
paints to the tag, using the Stripes Layering Shifter Stencil with a mini round
blending tool. I tapped Black Soot Distress Paint on to one of the large
MDF Honeycomb pieces, spritzed with water and used this to stamp the
background. I painted the small honeycomb, bee and flowers, then while the
paint was still wet on the white sections I sprinkled over some Distress Rock
Candy Glitter. I added details using white and black Sakura Gelly Roll Pens,
added the die cut letters and panel and a ribbon tie.

Gelly Roll Pens.Bee Kind

These crafty parts were just begging to become a character
so please meet Ambrosia the Bee-hive Elf, whose mission is to
remind us to create bee-friendly gardens. I slapped a thick layer
of gesso over my canvas, loosely applying translucent acrylics
with a brayer when it was dry and then script stamping
randomly. I created Ambrosia’s face with watercolour pencils
over the gesso and a little pen and ink for detail. The bee/bee-
hive parts are simply painted with gesso and acrylic and then
covered with melted gold Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel.
