Curiosity Vintage Book Cover

I cut a piece of white card to fit my vintage book cover,
added Fossilized Amber Ink to a piece of acetate, spritzed
with water and pressed it onto the card. I repeated the same
process using Vintage Photo ink. I adhered a vintage tin lid
to the inked background and tore a book page to fit inside. I
stamped the number stamp using VersaFine on the book page
before adhering it to the lid. I inked the honeycomb piece with
Fossilized Amber and Spiced Marmalade then sprinkled with
clear embossing powder, and heat set, adding several layers to
give a glossy finish. I repeated the same process for the bee. I
inked the Vignette Frame with Oxide Inks adding touches of wax
to highlight the detail, adhered the frame to the tin lid, the bee to
the bottom of the frame, and a quote chip to the bottom of the
decorative panel.

What a joy it was combining my
love for clay and the wooden
shapes to create miniature books
and a tag. I wasn’t sure how I was
going to get the shapes to stick
and found doing a larger shape on
clay allowed me to play around. I
found roughing up the clay where
the shape was going, adding a little
water then pressing it into place
before smoothing around all the
edges working the clay towards
the edges worked just fine. The
excitement waiting on them to dry
ready to paint, searching books for
just the right words and stamping
the surface to add a little more
detail... Pure joy!
