Treasures of the Deep
By Julie Ann Lee
I love the nostalgia of these Crafty Individuals stamps. They evoke
images of searching the shore for magical sea-shells that whisper
ocean stories if you hold them to your ear.
Rather than stamping straight on to canvas, I stamped the images on
coloured tissue, using a watermark pad and white embossing enamel,
sometimes layering over the first image with a black inked impression.
When the ink was dry I tore sections carefully and attached them to the
diluted acrylic background with liquid matte medium. I stamped the
seagulls straight on to the canvas for a sketchy effect, adding touches
of acrylic for highlights.
