I
used to look at lovely lettering on projects and think I’ll never be able to do that. But
when you break it down it’s just thin upstrokes and thick downstrokes! With the
right pen you’re away, there will be no stopping you.
The effects you can get with colour, blending,
shadows and highlights give you a polished
professional look.
With a little bit of practice, you’ll be
surprised to find out how easy it
is. Don’t be afraid to use some
pressure with a brush tip, they are
designed to bend and come back.
This is how you get your thick
downstrokes and thin up stokes.
Also, thick pens are designed
for larger lettering so trying to
write small with a large pen only
results in disappointment, go
large with your letters! For great
blending use good quality paper,
some don’t blend as
well as others.

Blending – For best
blending results use a
smooth watercolour paper,
rough ones may damage
your brush tips.
