Beach Canvas
For the main mixed media canvas, I stuck down some book pages with gel medium. I
painted the top portion with a mixture of blue paints, and the bottom with sandy brown
colours. At the line where the water meets the sand I painted a feathery white edge. I
wrote my quote in pencil and then used technique 1 with a black brush pen. I used an
Indian ink Pitt pen to do the shadow for technique 3 because it shows up on acrylic paint
better than the water-based pens. I added some highlights using technique 5 and finished
off my canvas with some stamping.Further Ideas
Brush Lettering Birthday card
My second project shows how blending the colours
and adding highlights can really make your lettering
pop from the white card. I went with a darker top of
the letter and a lighter pinker shade on the bottom. I
used all the techniques, but for technique 5 I used a
pattern rather than lines. The white crosses and dots
make the letters look sparkly. The highlighting is more
concentrated at the top of the letter and the dots
get more spaced out as you move down the letter.
Love this glittery effect! I finished off the card using
stamped flowers.
