Health & Fitness UK – September 2019

While running around the neighbourhood scores

top marks for convenience, it’s not the most

sociable of active pursuits, and it can be hard to

motivate yourself. If you’d like to run with others

when it suits you, but don’t have friends nearby, try

an app such as myCrew (mycrew.com), a social

network for runners that helps you find people of

your level near you. Download the app to your

smartphone, enter your running stats and connect

with other local runners who match your ability.

Add or get invited to a run, check out profiles of

your crew and say ‘hi!’ via chat and off you go!

TENNIS TIME!
Serious players will appreciate the
input from 15-time Grand Slam
winner, Novak Djokovic, as they don
the latest Asics Court FF 2 tennis
shoes and hit those winners. Greater flexibility in the midfoot area, together with a
wider heel, helps boost speed and stability, whatever surface you’re playing on.
Djokovic himself is wearing the tomato red men’s version this season, so if they’re
good enough for him... £155; asics.com.

how to get the
most from
swim-training
accessories.
‘A pull buoy isolates and lifts
your legs, giving you a more
streamlined body position so you
can focus on your pull of the water,
as you get most of your speed
from your upper body. Place it
between your thighs, knees or
ankles and use your leg and core
muscles to help keep it in place.
Hand paddles also improve your
pull when used with the pull buoy.
Paddles with holes in, such as
those by Nike Swim, are good for
developing shoulder strength.’
