Pentillie completely captivated
me. To me, they have a romantic
feel to them.”
You won’t be surprised to hear
that Clare’s original inspiration
was Impressionism and that her
art hero is Claude Monet: “I’d be
a groupie if he was alive today!”
Unlike Monet, however, Clare
could never work en plein air –
her paintings can take up to three
months to do. Thankfully, she
has her trusty digital camera to
help with that. “I never work from
someone else’s photos. I have to
take my own. I have to see it and
smell it and be there. It’s very
important that it’s all of me.”
