Quality as tradition
The Cornish Bed Company hand casts iron, brass and nickel beds
using traditional Victorian methods.
Each bed frame is hand-poured using gravity casting and uses
a signature locking system that only gets stronger with age. Each
bed has a lifetime guarantee and comes with a certificate of
authenticity and individual hallmark, making it an antique of the
future, and a real talking point in any bedroom. Beds can be made
bespoke to the hotel room’s size, with iron beds being coated in a
choice of colours and the brass frames skilfully lacquered by hand.
Cornwall is steeped in rich cultural traditions and diverse
artisanal skills, and The Cornish Bed Company is playing its part
in protecting the county’s industrial heritage and leading the
charge against mass production. It’s also one of the last remaining
foundries in the UK to handcast metal beds using Victorian
casting methods.

Recycled range
Royal Warrant holder Mitre Linen has added a
flat sheet to the Eco collection it launched in
January. Mitre’s Eco range features bed linen,
towelling products and pillows and duvets, made
from ethically-produced recycled and natural
products.
The classic white 200-thread count bed linen
and the 500gsm soft towels and 400gsm robes
are made from high quality 100% organic cotton,
cultivated in a sustainable way.
The light and warm duvets and pillows have
fillings made from recycled plastic bottles which
are extruded into soft, non-allergenic fibres. This
process produces around 70% fewer carbon
dioxide emissions, uses 70% less water and
40% less energy compared to standard fibre
production.
