No. 1 Gauge for Fn3 Scale (1:20.32 3' nar-
row gauge) is 45mm or 1.772", which
equals 3' exactly in F scale.
These are also the numbers adopted
by the NMRA when I was the Large Scale
Track and Wheel Chairman.
The slight difference (0.006") is not
significant as far as compatibility as it is
typically less than the production toler-
ances of the track manufacturers meaning
most equipment should run on either
track standard. – Gary Raymond,

[I’m so glad you were willing to share
your Lego feature, Gary. My apologies for
the typographical error. The “1.66"” callout
should have read “1. 7 66"”. As a member of
the NMRA, I’m familiar with their exacting
standards and how they benefit the hobby.
Thank you for your efforts to establish these
and other specifications. –Ed.]

BUT WAIT...THERE’S MORE!
This magazine is about garden railroad-
ing which means the products you review
will likely be used outdoors. Yet in the
review of the USA Trains Premier Line

no. 6 remote turnout you say, “long-term
durability in an outdoor setting could not
be assessed at this time.” Does this mean
there will be a follow-up review in six
months or a year where you subject it to
the elements? – Joseph Lupinski,
[email protected]
[We’re on the same track! Installing the
sample turnout prior to publication of the
Summer 2019 issue would’ve been a tall
order in the midst of our snowy Wisconsin
winter. However, we do plan to introduce
long-term product updates in future issues.
That’s when we’ ll take a closer look at
product durability and other specs impor-
tant to consumer/reader satisfaction. –Ed.]

ULTRALIGHT LOCO
I was pleased to read
Kevin Strong’s review of
the LGB 50th Anniversary
Mogul steam locomo-
tive. I’ve been a fan of
the model (previous
releases) over the
years, so I was partic-
ularly interested to
learn how LGB
updated the new offering. While you
sold me with the smoke and sound effects
presented in the video (GardenRailways.
com/Summer2019), I really want to know
LGB’s secret to rapid weight reduction! –
Lester C., via online comments
[Sorry Les, no magic elixir here! The
actual weight of the sample we reviewed is
7 pounds 3 ounces. –Ed.]
