he Institute of Chartered Accoun-
tants of India (ICAI) is a statutory
body set up under an Act of Par-
liament to regulate the Profession of
Chartered Accountants in India. ICAI,
the only accounting body of its kind of-
fers a self-sustaining course along with
a curriculum whose scope & reach go
well beyond the perceived “Accountan-
cy” parameters.
To be in sync with the requisites of
the dynamic global business environment, the ICAI formulated
New Scheme of Education and Training benchmarked to Char-
tered Accountancy course offered around the globe and recog-
nized world wide.
The affairs of the ICAI are managed by a Council in accordance
with the provisions of the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 and
the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988. The Council con-
stitutes of 40 members of whom 32 are elected by the Chartered
Accountants and remaining 8 are nominated by the Central Gov-
ernment generally representing the Comptroller and Auditor
General of India, Securities and Exchange Board of India, Ministry
of Corporate Affairs, Ministry of Finance and other stakeholders.
Over a period of time the ICAI has achieved recognition as a
premier accounting body not only in the country but also glob-
ally, for maintaining highest standards in technical, ethical areas
and for sustaining stringent examination and education stan-
dards. Since 1949, the profession has grown leaps and bounds in
terms of members and student base.

University School of Hotel Management, Airlines and
Tourism’s 2nd year students named Gursharn Singh and
Arshpreet Kaur have been offered internships in United States
of America.
Gursharn Singh bagged an internship at Sea Crest Beach Ho-
tel located in North Falmouth, Massachusetts, US and will serve
as ‘J1 Trainee’ with the position of ‘Culinary’. He is getting a sti-
pend worth $96 per day. Whereas, Arshpreet Kaur has been of-
fered an internship with Ameristar Casino Resort Spa, Colorado,
USA. Kaur will have a serving tenure of 6 months as an intern for
culinary skills. She will earn 102 dollars per day.
Sharing about the moment, Singh said that he is very much
thankful to Almighty, his family and CTU. He shared that because
of his practical skills and knowledge gained during his two years
as a Bachelor of Hotel Management & Catering Technology stu-
dent, he cracked the interview for gaining this internship. Shar-
ing about his interview he added that the interview was a great
learning experience where the experts asked him about his last
vocational training in Gargee Grand, Patna Sahib and the duties
and responsibilities he fulfilled there.
Sharing about her successful moment, Kaur said that it is a
proud moment for her. She credited her success to Almighty,
CTU and her family. She further added that her interview was
based on technical questions. Arshpreet answered all questions
based on culinary techniques with confidence and showcased
that she had a passionate interest for this internship that ulti-
mately led to her successful interview and selection. She also
mentioned that she has been groomed right by her teachers.
Dr Bharat Kapoor, Director, School of Hotel Management,
Airlines & Tourism said, “The interviews which both students
went through were based on technicality. Whereas, all the ques-
tions were familiar to them as they have studied all in their
course work. The curriculum that we have, teaches a student to
groom along international standards.”
Manbir Singh, Managing Director, CT University congratu-
lated students for their success and wished them a learning ex-
perience ahead.
