clear that, rather than fade

Quick Step man has taken even more

time out of favourite Geraint Thomas and

is about to take a historic victory. To find

the last time a Frenchman won a Tour

time trial in the maillot jaune, you need

to go back 35 years to Laurent Fignon’s

win at Villefranche-sur-Saône in 1984. In
