Andy Rouse quells a brief chirrup of
oversteer as his ICS Rover Vitesse wags
its tail at Oulton Park’s Lodge Corner in
round three of the RAC Trimoco British

Saloon Car Championship in 1984.
Though the Vitesse was the butt of many
jokes in the car industry, in Rouse’s
hands it more than held its own in Class A
against factory opposition and the likes

of BMW and Ford. Rouse finished second
to the BMW 635CSi of James Weaver
here, but won the championship with
81 points – his nearest Class A rival
was BMW’s Frank Sytner, on 30...
