Slice Literary Writers’
Conference
The 2019 Slice Literary Writers’ Confer-
ence will be held from September 7 to
September 8 at St. Francis College in
downtown Brooklyn, New York. The
conference features workshops, panels,
and one-on-one agent meetings for fic-
tion and nonfiction writers. Fiction and
nonfiction writers Mira Jacob and Kiese
Laymon will deliver the keynotes. Partic-
ipating publishing professionals include
agents Amy Elizabeth Bishop (Dystel,
Goderich & Bourret), Sarah Bowlin
(Aevitas Creative Management), Reiko
Davis (DeFiore & Company), Stepha-
nie Delman (Greenburger Associates),

Lodging is available at the conference
hotel for $119 to $199 per night. A lim-
ited number of scholarships are available.

    Renaissance House Residency
    Program
    The Renaissance House Residency
    Program, sponsored by the Helene and
    Dorothy West Foundation for Artists in
    Need, offers residencies of one to two
    weeks from July to September to poets,
    fiction writers, and creative nonfiction
    writers in the Catskill Mountains of
    Napanoch, New York, and Martha’s
    Vineyard, Massachusetts. The residen-
    cies include workshops, lectures, and
    time to write. Participating writers in-
    clude poet Afaa Michael Weaver, fiction
    writer Elizabeth Benedict, and creative
    nonfiction writers Wickham Boyle and
    Jill Nelson. The cost of the residency,
    which includes workshops, lodging, and
    all meals, is $950 for private lodging
