How much time and effort and energy we spend in Choosing a
holiday destination, the travel plan, the itinerary, the vehicle and
the room service! How many hours in listening, choosing, picking,
assigning a Play List for our travel alone? And then we sit and
discuss over these choices! “Which character of which Netflix
series in which episode in which dialogue just kills it dude”- such
explicit details center our talks.
If we are continuously exercising the power of choice making,
how are the matters of concern getting bypassed, especially
where these concerns are about the world at large? Are we
choosing rising toxicity in air pollution or uncontrolled killing of
whales or are we not exercising our power of making choices
before any tragedy befalls, whether it is the climbers dying of
human traffic jam at the Mount Everest or the approval of
policies on the topic of abortion.
Who is allowing us to be who we are? To Live how we want to
live? To think the way we want to think? WE HAVE NO IDEA. We
have absolutely no idea, we have no control, as if we are
destined, like a few drops of melting snow will form a tiny stream
that will grow into a large waterfall shaping into a wide river
And if we deny this, it means that we have always made known
choices. Thus our life situation is a result of those very choices
and hence we are solely responsible for them. Have we not, in
any dire situation blamed someone else? Have we not after
biting into a horrible tasting chocolate ice-cream said, “oh I
actually wanted Strawberry?” Or “I really wanted to buy the
orange hairband with red polka dots for my 7 year old Anya but
the shopkeeper insisted that I take fluorescent pink stripes and
see how down market it looks?” or “You know I really felt that the
man was my true life partner and the relationship broke when I
asked him to help with 80k on our family emergency and then I
got to know what an unreliable, selfish guy he was but is it his
fault that I trusted him”?which will eventually end in an unbounded ocean, we are tuned
into the same drumbeat of–birth-school-college-job-marriage-
children-house-vehicle-salary-EMI-holiday-mediclaim-old die- young grow up- festivals- disease- Life insurance-emergen-
cies-celebrations-death-birth...
It is as if we never really pause and never really know as
to who is the one making choices here?Bizarre. The endless blame games we play in every calamitous hour of the day.
