MARKET FOCUS
Given the harsh
climate in the UAE,
particularly during the
summer, it’s not surprising
that residents consider AC
to be a life essential
of the Middle East and Africa HVAC market.
“Apart from these, other companies are
also increasingly introducing new products to
maintain or establish their leadership,” noted
the report.
“For example, Daikin Industries Ltd an-
nounced the launch of its high-effi ciency in-
verter screw chiller series with R-1234ze(E)
refrigerant in December 2017.”
The mercur y is predicted to continue its
climb north.
Research submitted by the Max Planck
Institute for Chemistr y shows that seasonal
temperatures across the MEA region are set
to rise twice as fast as the global average.
Earlier this summer a sur vey conducted
by air conditioning provider Taqeef showed
that 65% of UAE residents rated AC as more
important than Wi-Fi, smart phones or cars to
their quality of life.
The sur vey of 1,000 people also found that
56% of respondents cannot manage without
AC for even one day.
One in fi ve said that their AC failing was
a bigger concern than any other product
issue.
Tariq Al Ghussein, Taqeef chairman
and CEO, said: “Given the harsh climate in
THE HEAT IS ONIS ON
More than half of UAE residents
surveyed said they couldn’t be
without AC for even a day
the UAE, particularly during the summer
months, it’s not surprising that residents
consider their air conditioning to be a life
essential.
“It can be ver y frustrating if it breaks down,
especially when temperatures are soaring
beyond 40C.”
All this combines to make good reading
for the HVAC industr y on a global level, and
particularly across the MEA region.
