Eurovent Middle East has welcomed UL
as an associate member, and hopes the an-
nouncement will provide greater opportunity
for collaboration.
The latest fi rm to join the membership
body for HVACR manufacturers will contrib-
ute to a joint working group to develop initia-
tives for improved indoor air quality, while en-
couraging the use of enhanced technological
solutions in the region.
Markus Lattner, MD for Eurovent Middle
East, said he was pleased to welcome UL into
the fold, and said discussions will centre on
how they can jointly contribute to a better
understanding of the current market.
“We are ver y happy to see UL joining our
growing family,” he said.
“Our main focus at Eurovent is looking at
wider issues, like how to improve energy ef-
fi ciency in this region or improve indoor air
quality through broader initiatives. There-
fore, we see a lot of areas for a successful
collaboration with UL.
“We believe that our co-operation can help

UPGRADE
Power management company Eaton has en-
hanced the capabilities of its Gigabit Network
Card.
The card, the industr y’s fi rst uninterrupt-
ible power supply (UPS) connectivity device
to meet the UL 2900-2-2 cybersecurity stand-
ard, has been updated to enable the same pro-
tective benefi ts as the 3-phase Eaton 93PM,
Eaton 93PS, Eaton 91PS, and Eaton 9PHD
UPSs.
Until now, the Gigabit Network Card had
only supported single-phase UPSs.
It has also been equipped with a raft of
new features and connectivity protocols to
support large data centres and industrial

applications, including stronger encr yption,
confi gurable password policies, signed fi rm-
ware packages, and the use of signed digital
certifi cates.
Remote and centralised authentication

through LDAP/Active Director y and Radius
has also been added.
“There has been a phenomenal industr y
response to Eaton’s Gigabit Network Card
since it launched a little over six months ago,”
said Ashraf Yehia, managing director at Eaton
Middle East.
“The cards address a major need for ad-
vanced security protection of connected UPS
networks.
“The latest additions mean IT and facil-
ity managers can now use the same network
cards across both single-phase and 3-phase
UPSs, which enables easier management
and monitoring and, ultimately, more effec-
tive cybersecurity.”

to develop specifi c strategies to initiate ac-
tions by authorities, property developers, and
by the people themselves.
“We hope to be involved in more collabora-
tions to create awareness in the market for
safety, latest technologies, and even regula-
tor y aspects.”
Hamid Syed, vice president and gen-
eral manager of UL Middle East, said the
activities of Eurovent and UL complement
each other.
He added that the formation of a working
group highlighted the commitment of both
organisations to improving air quality.
He explained: “This is ver y much in line
with UL’s mission to foster safe living and
working conditions for people around the
world, through the application of science, to
solve safety, security, and sustainability chal-
lenges.
“We believe together we can make a
bigger impact in this specifi c fi eld of indoor
air quality, and I am convinced that we will
not stop there and collaborate in further
