Alien burst onto cinema screens and
terrifi ed a generation of audiences.
While it’s rightfully remembered as
arguably the greatest sci-fi horror ever made,
it didn’t just chill us to the bone while pinning
us to our seats. It also set the visual template
for generations of fi lmmakers to come.
We’re not just talking about the iconic
creature designs of HR Giger, the perfect
killing machine that resembled nothing we had
ever seen before (it’s worth noting that Giger
also designed the ‘croissant’ ship and the
