Surf Spots:
PORTO: Plenty of empty beach breaks.
NAZARE: One of the biggest rideable waves on the planet.
Can also produce clean 4ft waves.
PENICHE: Home to the legendary Supertubos and the
annual WSL world tour event in October, which turns the
town into a summer-level party for two weeks at the end
of the season. If you’re up for a bit of a drive then there are
plenty of good waves in the area.
BALEAL: A brilliant place to learn, with different options
to ensure spots suitable for beginners and intermediates.
ERICEIRA: This vibrant town is the home of Europe’s first
surfing reserve – expect great seafood and a whole bunch of
class reefs and beaches.
ALGARVE: Loads of wonderful coves, reefs and secluded
beach breaks. Depending on the swell you’ll find waves
on the west or south coast. Finger-licking seafood, lots of
sunshine, great parties and a great range of surf spots.
CASCAIS: Stretching from Carvavelos beach (favours
southwest swell) to Guincho (favours northwest swells), the
Cascais coastline offers a big variety of beach, point, reef
and longboard breaks along with breaks for advanced and
intermediate surfers. The host of a number of national and
international surf contest thanks to its great conditions.
LISBON: A variety of consistent breaks for all levels are
located within 40 minutes of this buzzing city, including
Carvavelos, Poca, Albulfeira, Caparica, Sao Pedro, Bafureira,
Castelo and Guincho.
